Controller
The RebornHounds community server (contact: info@playhounds.com).
Data we process
Username, e-mail address, a one-way hash of your password (never the password itself), IP address and browser details (sessions and security logs), in-game data (characters, items, chat and game logs), support tickets.
Purposes
Creating your account and providing the game, account security and abuse prevention, legal obligations.
Sharing
The service runs on Cloudflare (domain, security, delivery), our hosting provider and our e-mail provider (Spacemail); their servers may be abroad. Data is never sold or shared for advertising.
Retention
Account data until the account is deleted; security logs 90 days; backups at most 30 days. After a deletion, personal data is removed when the 7-day grace period ends.
Cheat protection (RHAC)
To keep the game fair, when you press PLAY the launcher checks that the game's program files are the ones we distribute (and repairs any that differ), and while the game runs it sends once a minute: that the game is running, the names of well-known cheat tools (e.g. memory editors, debuggers) that are running (only entries matching our list), whether a debugger is attached to the game, the file name, hash and kind of folder (e.g. "Program Files") of modules (DLLs) loaded into the game from outside the game folder and Windows, whether the game's code in memory matches its own files (if not, only the game module's name and where it differs), whether Windows' timing functions were changed inside the game (speed hacks), whether its network functions (send / receive) were changed inside the game (packet editors; if so, only the function's name and the name of the module it leads to) and which login ticket the game was started with (a hash of it). When you press PLAY it also sends a one-way hash of your computer's Windows ID (MachineGuid): the ID itself never leaves your computer, and the server hashes it again with a secret key before storing it. If another account plays from a computer that a banned account used, only the staff are told; on its own this is never a reason for a ban (it may be a family computer or an internet café). This record is deleted 90 days after the computer was last used. When the server turns them on, the launcher may also run these extra checks on the game process every five minutes while the game runs: executable memory regions of the game that belong to no module (per region only its size and a hash of its first 4 KB), the number of threads that start outside any module, the number of game threads with a hardware breakpoint (debug register) set, other programs holding permission to write into the game's memory, and transparent always-on-top windows covering the game (for these last two only that program's file name, file hash and signer). These checks only look at the game process the launcher started. The contents of your files, full file paths, window titles and the list of other programs on your computer are not sent. The game server also processes mission statistics (time, kills, shots, earnings) and movement speed in missions. This data is used to detect cheating (legitimate interest). On a definitive finding (e.g. the game's code changed in memory, a speed hack, a known cheat module) or several strong findings that confirm each other, RHAC may suspend the account automatically, for a time or permanently; every ban is reported to the staff and logged. You can appeal with a support ticket: a staff member reviews it and lifts a false alarm. The data is kept for at most 90 days (a ban record may be kept longer to set the length of a later ban).
